The relationship of Melinda French and Bill Gates
Melinda French, 60 met Microsoft CEO, Bill Gates, 69 in 1987 at a trade fair in New York. They started a relationship and exchanged wedding vows in 1994 in an intimate ceremony in Lanai in Hawaii.
In 1996, Melinda gave birth to their first child, daughter Jennifer Gates Nassar. Later, in 1999, the two welcomed their second child, son Rory Gates and in 2002, Melinda gave birth to their third child, daughter Phoebe Gates.
However, in May 2021 came the sad announcement that the two have split. It was due to the business dealings of Bill with the sex offender, late Jeffrey Epstein. Melinda was upset about it and proceeded with her divorce from Bill Gates.
Is Melinda in love again?
After the divorce, Melinda had stated that she is open to love. Regarding her criteria for her new beau, she told TIME magazine:
“I want a guy who’s open to learning and who’s vibrant, and who’s smart, and somebody who challenges me and that I challenge.”

Melinda whose net worth is USD 30 billion has released a new memoir called The Next Day. In its acknowledgement part, she has thanked her family, friends, staff at The Gates Foundation, counselors and spiritual people for helping people like her when they need them the most.
But what was striking was a special separate thank you to a mysterious person. She wrote:

Is Philip Vaughn Melinda French’s new boyfriend?
A few weeks back, Melinda had mentioned that she is extremely happy in her new relationship. There are rumors that her new boyfriend is tech entrepreneur, Philip Vaughn, 48.
As per his Linkedin page, Philip is the founder and Chairman of Tavour, a craft beer delivery company. He had earlier worked at Microsoft company of Bill Gates.
In October 2024, Melinda was seen with Philip. Both were coming out of a helicopter. The same month, they were leaving the French restaurant, Le Bernardin in New York City. They were holding hands.
And in April 2025, when asked by People magazine reporter whether she was dating, Melinda answered in the affirmative. Later, on 15th of the same month, she was with Philip again in New York City. She was in a navy blue coat that she wore over a leather dress. She had worn sharp stiletto and her hair was in a ponytail.
Prior to this relationship, Melinda was romancing former Fox news correspondent, Jon Du Pre. They were at a basketball game in April 2022. Moreover, Phoebe Gates was following Jon in his Instagram.
However, in April 2024, Melinda’s spokesperson revealed that the two have broken up.
